Our children have attended Emler for two sessions now (Summer & Fall) and it has been a wonderfully positive experience. We have been so excited to see the improvement in our children's comfort level in the water as well as their enjoyment of the water. Our instructors have been patient and supportive and their personal attention and time given to our family-not only do our kids look forward to their lessons, but so do we. It has been Fabulous!! By the way, great place for birthday parties too.
Pool parties, days on the boat and afternoons at the pool are so much more fun for all of us. The kids have much more fun in the water and we have such a great time playing with them in the water.

My son Christian has been taking lessons from Emler for approximately three years. He has mild developmental delays from birth injury and hypertonia in his arms and legs (stiffness) and hypotonia in his trunk and neck (weakness) causing balance issues.
Our once a week swimming has provided him with a sensory experience, repeated instruction, and practice that he can retain and improve. Christian can now swim half the length of the pool and loves it. We love the patient instructors at Emler, especially Lynn, Paloma, and Jill!

We absolutely love Emler! Our daughter started in the Parent/Baby Class. It was a great way to get used to the water. The Emler staff is extremely dedicated to each of their swimmers. They each take the time to make sure everyone is totally satisfied! They all give 100% of themselves. Not only is she learning how to swim, but she is having fun doing it!
Holli Brett - (Megan - age: 3 1/2 years)
When my son Matthew, 3 years old, began swimming at Emler in June, he was completely uneasy (that's mild) about going in the pool. The instructors at Emler identified his limitations and worked with my son at a pace that helped him to succeed. He now readily goes to swim class and has a wonderful time!
Dina D'Avolio - (Matthew - age: 3 years)
My son and daughter both started when they were 3 years old. We love Emler. My son is now 6 1/2 and cannot wait till he can be in the swim team. I recommend every child should take swim lessons to enjoy the water at Emler. My daughter is now 4 1/2 and is starting to feel comfortable in the water by herself. The staff here love the kids and that helps when trying to build their confidence. The swim parties are a lot of fun here too.
Carrie Ring - (Alyssa Ring - age: 4 1/2 years)
We took lesson after lesson at various city pools and felt like we had just wasted our money. Our son was still uncomfortable in the water and was no closer to swimming. He hated putting his face and ears in the water.
After one 2 week session at Emler our son loves to swim and especially dive under the water. He couldn't wait to move on to the next level and learn more. Now when we go swimming as a family he loves to show us the things he can do. Everyone should try Emler first. It may cost more, but it was worth every single penny.

One evening my sisters and I were sitting in the backyard, the kids had just finished swimming. My brother-in-law was burying a dead bird and we all were watching him (including Cole). The next thing we know my nephew said Cole fell in the pool. By the time I ran to him, he had made it to the side (in the deep end of the pool) and climbed out. The training he received at Emler is what allowed him to save himself.

For the past two years our daughter, Hailey, has participated in your swim classes. We are big fans of your program. In fact, I should have shared this with you earlier, but better late than never. We put a pool in last winter. One nice spring day, we were out by the pool. Our black Labrador ran past Hailey as she was feeling the water and accidentally knocked her into the pool, which was very cold.
Hailey, age three at the time, knew exactly what to do, thanks to Emler. She immediately turned and swam back to the side unassisted just as she was taught in your classes. Of course she was shaken by the experience, but through her tears, her first words when she was out of the water were, "Mommy, I did it by myself."
Thank you for teaching her such an important life saving skill. She has become quite a little swimmer, thanks to you.

As you know, Sela and Liam have been swimming at Emler for quite some time. Our primary objective when we started their lessons was water safety. Over time, we realized swimming's other benefits: overall conditioning that benefited other sports, self-confidence, and pure enjoyment. With Sela's accident, we came full circle. It was definitely a wake-up call for our family.
Sela, (7 years old) was at a friend's house. They were in the backyard by a pool. Sela was startled by the family's cat, and fell into the cold water, fully clothed, wearing a heavy winter jacket. We were blessed: the water was clear, Sela didn't hit her head, and she was able to get out of the water quickly, thanks to her swimming lessons.
We are very thankful for the excellent training both Sela and Liam have received at Emler. If one experience can serve as a reminder to others to always practice rigorous water safety rules, we will be doubly blessed.

Chandler has been taking swimming lessons since she was six months old. During the course of five years, she has advanced to quite a little fish in the water.
When Chandler was three years old we moved to the Metroplex area and she stared taking classes at Emler. Last summer, however, I made the mistake of signing her up for a swim class at the YMCA in Bedford. At the time I thought, "Other than price, could there really be a difference in the swimming class?" I WAS WRONG!! Returning to Emler Swim School was the best and only solution for Chandler's water training.
Two weeks ago we went to visit my mother in Central Texas. During the visit, Chandler wanted to get in a pool. She loves the water and was really missing it. I found out that my mother's neighborhood had a public pool. So, we decided to go. Before we left the house I told Chandler, "I don't have my bathing suit, so you will be swimming alone." She expressed her disappointment, but she still wanted to go.
We got there and she immediately felt out of place. In the shallow end, the other young children would not include her in their underwater games. She was sad but kept on trying to play. I finally said, "Chandler, why don't you jump off the diving board." She looked at it and shook her head, "No way mommy." After a few minutes I asked her again, "Why don't you be a big girl and jump off the diving board?" She once again told me, "NO." I thought to myself, "What the heck, I will ask her one more time." After ten minutes passed, I asked her again, "Chandler, if I walk over there with you, would you be a big girl and jump off the diving board?" I was shocked when she finally said, "YES."
As we got closer to the deep end, eleven feet, she noticed that only the 'big kids' were swimming by the diving board. Most of the divers were ten years or older. I held her hand as she got in line. She was immediately over-powered in size by everyone around her. I heard a high school student yell from the bench near by, "Look at that little girl in line. I know she's not going to jump." The lifeguard said, "Miss, I'm afraid she can't jump off the diving board." And I said, "Of course she can, because she can SWIM."
As I began walking closer to the lifeguard, I continued, "I just want you to watch her in case she gets scared and panics in the water." He reluctantly turned away. It was finally Chandler's turn to jump. She climbed the steps and slowly walked out to the end of the board. The boy behind her said, "You can't jump you're too little." More people began to take notice of the little girl on the diving board. "Look at that little girl, she's gonna jump, no way she's to small, etc." She looked at me one last time for reassurance, I said, "You can do it," and she took the big plunge. It seemed like an hour before she came up. The crowd that stopped to watch the little girl cheered with excitement. "No Way, she did it, look at that little mermaid." One younger boy jumped into the water to save her, he reached out his hand to pull her to safety and she ignored him. Finally, the lifeguard asks me, "Do I need to go in after her?" I held my breath and said, "No, she will be just fine."
And you want to know something, she was just fine. I had not seen her more proud of herself and show such self-confidence in a long time. I believe Chandler has found her "thing." Swimming means so much to her. A heart felt "Thanks" goes out to Emler, Susan, and Erin for being a part of the process that made this possible.
