Our girls have been swimming at Emler for over 3 years. They started in Waterbaby classes and have worked their way up to AI and Super Aquatots. They're amazing! Kaitlyn can jump in the deep end of Mimi's pool, swim across and climb out.
On Thanksgiving Day, Abbie caught a wheel while riding a tricycle around the pool and fell in. The tricycle quickly began sinking, but not Abbie. She immediately swam to the side and climbed out - clothes, shoes and all. I rescued the tricycle - unfortunately it didn't learn to swim at Emler! Our "success story" is a testament to the wonderful Emler experience and the care of all the wonderful teachers who have made sure my girls are water safe!
I wanted to let you know that your water safety pays off. Becky wasn't aware that she was close to the edge when she walked backwards as she was watching her sister. Fully clothed she fell into the pool at the deep end. Her training kicked in and she swam to the surface, popped her head up, and swam to the nearest edge of the pool and got herself out. I happened to be standing close to her when this happened and didn't even realize until I heard the splash. Many thanks to Emler for Becky's training.
It is with tremendous gratitude that I write this testimonial. I believe that this story could have ended differently if Chas had not received such excellent instruction on water safety and swimming from Emler Swim School.
Chas and his friend were getting the water hose to drag to the play yard. Chas was turned around talking to his friend when he misstepped and fell fully clothed into the deep end of our pool. I loudly told Chas to swim to the wall as I was running to the deep end to help him. I realized as I was telling him to swim to the edge that he had already done that and was beginning to climb out!! It was an automatic reaction!! Chas said he knew what to do because he learned it at Emler. I never thought to panic. I knew Chas had the ability to help himself. During his swim lessons I had seen him swim to the wall and get out independently many times.
Additionally he had even had several opportunities to practice this important skill fully clothed during his swimming lessons. Instead of this accident fostering fear of the water, Chas felt proud of himself for knowing what to do! Thank you Emler for making water safety your primary focus for young swimmers!
